Maybe you've noticed your child avoiding books.
Maybe homework ends in frustration.
Maybe you've been told to "just keep reading together," but deep down you know your child needs something more.
Or perhaps you're simply wondering...
"Are they on track?"
If you've spent hours searching online, hearing conflicting advice, or wondering what actually works, you're not alone.
The truth is, learning to read is one of the most important milestones in a child's life. But it doesn't have to be confusing.
You deserve clear answers.
Your child deserves support that's backed by evidence, built around their unique needs, and delivered with patience, encouragement, and genuine care.
That's why Thriving Readers exists.
If something doesn't feel quite right, let's talk about it. A conversation can often provide the clarity and reassurance you've been looking for.
Our one-to-one online tutoring combines structured literacy, engaging lessons, and individualized instruction to help children build strong foundations and lasting confidence.
You don't need an education degree to help your child.
Our Parent Resource Library is filled with practical, evidence-based resources that make reading research easy to understand and even easier to apply at home.
We use structured literacy approaches grounded in reading science because children deserve methods that have been proven to work.
No two readers are the same.
Every lesson is personalized to your child's strengths, needs, interests, and pace so they experience meaningful success from the very beginning.
One of the greatest influences on a child's reading journey isn't found in a workbook.
It's you.
That's why we don't simply tutor children. We partner with families, providing practical guidance and resources that help parents feel confident supporting learning at home.
Learning to read changes far more than report cards.
It changes how children see themselves.
Our goal isn't simply to improve decoding, spelling, or fluency.
It's to help every child say:
"I can read."
The universe handed me Kate when we needed her most. In just five months, our son learned more than he had in two years of school. We no longer fear a learning disability. He is thriving, confident, curious, and engaged.

Meet Kate
Hi, I'm Kate.
I'm a teacher, literacy specialist, and the founder of Thriving Readers.
Throughout my career, I've worked alongside children and families who desperately wanted to help but often didn't know where to begin. They'd received conflicting advice, watched their child lose confidence, and worried about what the future might hold.
I knew families deserved something better.
Thriving Readers was built to bridge the gap between evidence-based literacy research and practical, realistic support that parents can actually use.
My teaching philosophy has also been deeply shaped by the Suzuki Music Method during my decades as a violin student and teacher and its belief that learning flourishes through the partnership between parent, teacher, and child.
When we work together, you're never left wondering what happens during tutoring or how to help between sessions.
We're a team.
Because when children are surrounded by knowledgeable, encouraging adults who work together, remarkable things happen.
"Reading is difficult for her. Paying attention to academic material is difficult. Sitting still is difficult. The fact that she doesn't hesitate in the slightest to sign onto a tutoring session is a major win in my books."
Sandie
"Our daughter went from being extremely behind in reading to grade level within four to five months. More importantly, she became a happy, joyful participant in class. Her teachers are blown away by her progress."
Stephanie
"My son has started reading signs and menus on his own. He's even asking me to help him write poems and stories. It's a real testament to your work that he now wants to try reading and writing."
V.
"She established a wonderful relationship from the beginning, provided structured lessons with just the right balance of fun and challenge, and helped our daughter build confidence and self-esteem."
Michelle
Great reading support doesn't begin and end with tutoring sessions.
That's why we've created a growing collection of practical resources designed to help parents feel informed, empowered, and confident.
Inside the Parent Resource Library you'll find evidence-based guides, printable resources, webinars, literacy tips, and practical strategies that help you confidently support your child's reading journey.
Whether you're wondering if your child is on track, trying to understand structured literacy, or simply looking for fun ways to build reading skills at home, you'll find trusted guidance that's easy to understand and ready to use.
Reading is about so much more than sounding out words.
It's about confidence.
Curiosity. Independence. Opportunity.
When children believe they can read, they begin to participate more confidently at school, approach challenges with greater resilience, and discover the joy that books can bring.
If you're looking for thoughtful, evidence-based support from someone who will care about your child as much as you do, I'd love to meet you.
Let's take the next step together.

I’m a former classroom teacher who spent years teaching children to read, using evidence-based instruction, structured literacy, and everything research tells us works.
And yet, year after year, I kept meeting parents who were confused, worried, and quietly blaming themselves.
They were doing what they had been told.
More reading at home.
More practice.
More guessing at what might help.
But their children were still struggling.
What I saw over and over again was this gap:
Parents cared deeply, but they did not have clarity.
They did not know what skill was missing, what mattered most right now, or how to help without turning reading into a battle.
That is why I created Thriving Readers.
Thriving Readers exists to bridge the gap between what the science of reading says children need and what families can realistically do at home.
I don’t believe in quick fixes or pressure.
I believe in clear assessment, targeted instruction, and helping parents understand what is actually going on beneath the surface.
When families work with Thriving Readers, they stop guessing.
They understand their child’s reading profile.
They know what to focus on next.
And their child builds real confidence because instruction finally matches their needs.
This work is not about pushing kids harder.
It is about teaching them in the way their brain learns best.
