Raising Thriving Readers: Supporting Your Child at Home with the Foundations of Early Literacy
This program helps parents of young children learn about the foundations of early literacy so that they can help their child become a confident, capable, thriving reader, setting the stage for a lifetime of academic success.
Module Topics Include:
Understanding how our brains learn to read
Learning the letter sounds
Phonological and phonemic awareness
Short Vowels and vowel teams (reading and writing words and sentences)
Handwriting and letter formation (and why it is so important!)
Assessments and identifying red flags
Working with your child's teacher
Tips and scripts to help your child when they are stuck
Understanding how your experience learning to read impacts how you work with your child
